Michelle Bartholomew DVM
Dr. Bartholomew is a native of Salt Lake City. She is a graduate of Westminster College and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1998. She is a very caring and talented doctor in medicine and surgery who enjoys the challenges of emergency animal care as well as routine wellness care. Dr. Bartholomew has a black terrier mix named Salty. Salty was a rescue adoption from Hawaii. She enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, fly fishing and spending time with her family. Dr. Bartholomew enjoys working with people and their pets and always has a kind word for all.
Melissa Vetter VMD
Dr. Vetter graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She practiced small animal medicine for two years in Baltimore, MD before journeying to Salt Lake City in 2012. Dr. Vetter joined our team at Hillside Veterinary Hospital in January of 2015. Before becoming a veterinarian, she worked in quality control in the pharmceutical industry. During this time, she also volunteered at an aquarium working with penguins. She realized that caring for the health and well-being of animals was her true passion, and she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Being a feline parent herself, Dr. Vetter understands the deep connection between pets and their people, and always strives to provide the best and most compassionate care. She is a member in good standing with the AVMA. In addition, she has a special interest in aquarium medicine and the rescue and rehabilitation of aquatic animals. In her free time Dr. Vetter prefers to be outdoors, enjoying the fresh air and appreciating the natural beauty of Utah. She especially likes to hike, canoe and camp.
Jamie Bean DVM
Dr. Bean joined the Hillside team in January 2017. Previously, she practiced small animal medicine in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Bean hails from a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. She completed her undergraduate education on the big island of Hawaii and veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Dr. Bean's interests include surgery and strengthening the human-animal bond for the betterment of both species. She also has a huge soft spot for working dogs. Dr. Bean is happy to be back in the West exploring the mountains and trails we are lucky enough to live in. When not treating her patients, you can find her hiking with Camper, camping or snowboarding.
Jenny Durbin BVMS
Dr. Durbin is originally from Los Angeles, California and has been living in Utah for the last 2 years. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of California. Dr. Durbin graduated from veterinary school in Glasgow, Scotland. Dr. Durbin has been fortunate to travel and explore the world, and is enjoying exploring Utah on her days off. Her interests are animal behavior and soft tissue surgery. She currently has 3 cats, Tessi Blue puppy and a house to keep her busy.
Jillian Burchett DVM
Dr. Burchett is a Utah native who joined the Hillside team in 2018. She received her bachelor's degree in Biology and French from Lake Forest College in 2003 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2008. She loves working in Utah, where the clients share her same passion for the outdoors and a deep love for our animal companions. She looks forward to establishing a trusting and personal bond with her clients and their animal family. Her special interests include senior care, internal medicine and neurology. Currently, Dr. Burchett lives in Draper with her husband Dominic, a Battalion Chief for Unified Fire Authority, her four kids Ivy, Tommy, Allison & Ruby. She has Rusty the doodle, Daisy the cavalier, Moo Cherry, Alex the kitties & Rosie the bunny.

Kris has been a part of the Hillside team since 2002. She has two dogs named Patty and Rita; six cats Ezie, Herman, Chess, Alice, Chickey, Jupiter; and a turtle names Cylde. Kris and 2 amazing kids. Her favorite part of working at Hillside is the great care we get to give to our patient's and all the great clients.
Julia has been part of the Hillside team since 1986. She worked at Brickyard Animal Hospital in the early 80's, worked at Hulen Hills Veterinary Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas from 1983-84. Her hobbies include running, crafting, reading and spending time at her cabin in the Uintas every weekend in the summer. Julia has been married for 34 years and has 2 beautiful daughters. She has a dog named Henry. He is the best dog on the planet! She had the 2nd best dog, Cosmo, the sock eating standard poodle as well. The thing Julia loves the most about working at Hillside is the fantastic group of dedicated co-workers. She has love for all animals.
Cassie: CVT & VPM
Cassie graduated from Utah Career College with her associates in Veterinary Technology in 2004. Cassie worked at a pratice in Bountiful, Utah for 10 years. She has been part of the Hillside team since 2014. She has three dogs named Naomi, Dutch & Alan. She loves to go camping, running, paddle boarding and hanging out with her son and husband. Her favorite part of working at Hillside is patient care, client education and surgery.
Rachel graduated from Broadview University with her associates in Veterinary Technology in 2011 & became part of the Hillside team in 2014. Rachel and her husband have a big pet family, including 4 dogs, 3 cats and even a snake. If you keep your eyes peeled, you might spot her small co-pilot Gracie Gray who enjoys coming to work with her mama. She is passionate about exceptional patient care, surgery, dental work and wellness exams. She loves greeting new and old patients and treating your pet like her own.
Stacy has been part of the Hillside team since 2016. She worked at All Pet Complex in Sandy, Utah in 1989 and VCA Raleigh Hills in Oregon. She passed VTNE in 2006. Stacy has a dog name George and 2 cats named LB & Zoe. She enjoys spending her time playing video games and hanging out with her husband and son. Her favorite part about working at Hillside is caring for animals.
Arianna: VT assistant
Arianna has been part of the Hillside team since 2016. She is pre-veterinary student attending the University of Utah and will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in biology in the Spring of 2019. Her favorite part about working at Hillside is getting to know our patients and becoming familiar with each of their unique personalities. She enjoys hiking, cooking and crafting.
Maddie: VT assistant
Madison has been part of the Hillside team since 2017. She graduated from the University of Utah with a biology degree in May 2018. She is currently applying to veterinary school. Madison enjoys hiking and spending time with her horse Dia and dog Hudson. Her favorite part of working at Hillside learning and working with our veterinarians and taking care of patients.
Nicole has been part of the Hillside team since 2011. Nicole previously worked at the Humane Society of Utah for 6 years. Nicole still volunteers with their foster department and helping with sick cats/kittens. Nicole has 5 rescues (3 cats & 2 dogs). Her favorite part of working at Hillside is building relationships with clients and their pets.
Talese has been part of the Hillside team since 2015. She is attending the University of Utah, studying to get a degree as a PA and specialize in pediatric trauma. When Talese is not at Hillside or school, she is a cheer coach at UPA. She also is a coach for special needs kids. She loves working with kids of all different ages, backgrounds, strengths & how amazing they are. She has 3 dogs, Whiskey, Salem & Jack. Her favorite thing about working at Hillside is client & patient interaction. Holding cute puppies is a bonus as well.
Halley is a native of Ohio who came to Utah in the beginning of 2018, upon moving here she started her job at Hillside and got her first dog Rocky- border collie pitbull mix. Her favorite activities include hiking, fishing and of course watching the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Lesa has been part of the Hillside team since July 2018. She spent the majority of her career in the non profit sector including a woman's shelter and animal shelter. Her favorite part of working at Hillside is meeting all the pets that come in for care and learning how the clinic operates. "So much happens behind the scenes! As a client, I had no idea how hard everyone was working for my pets." Lesa has lived in 7 states. Hawaii was her favorite. She is also a mother of 4 human children and 3 canine children.
Erika has been part of the Hillside team since 2018. Erika came to Utah from Maine a little over 2 years ago. She's owned a wide variety of animals and has a cockapoo named Brandy, 3 parakeets back in Maine & Remi her beta fish in Utah. When not at work, she loves working on her wildlife photography, traveling and exploring everything Utah has to offer. She came to Hillside after working at Bandfield and is currently studying to be a vet assistant on the side. Next spring she'll be starting classes at SLCC before transferring to the University of Utah for a Bachelor's in Biology degree. Erika's favorite part about working at Hillside are the puppy and kitten visits and she hopes to further her education in the field to become a veterinarian someday.
Melise has been part of the Hillside team since 2011. She graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN). Melise currently works at Primary Children's Hospital in the NICU as a RN. She has 2 dogs. Riley a pug/chihuahua mix & Jorgie a cattledog/staffie mix. Melise loves planting flowers, traveling and going to movies. Her favorite part about working at Hillside is getting to know the clients and their pets.
